OVERVIEW

At San Marcos Middle School, all ELD courses are designed to help students move along the continuum of ELD standards.  All ELD classes are designed to help students gain proficiency of the different language domains: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. Classroom activities are also designed to address the 4 C’s and to develop: Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Communication and Creativity. All students will be required to collaborate with their peers and build on skills learned during the prior year.

1st Semester

2nd Semester

  • Students will gain academic vocabulary (literary terms included).
  • Students will write narratives and expository essays.
  • Students will defend their claim using evidence in a classroom debate.
  • Students will present an illustrated narrative.
  • Students will also use technology to demonstrate their learning and track their own language gains.

 

  • Students will gain academic vocabulary (literary terms included).
  • Students will write biographical essays and a monologue.
  • Students will create and share a biographical presentation.
  • Students will present a monologue.
  • Students will also use technology to demonstrate their learning and track their own language gains.


En la Escuela Intermedia San Marcos, todos los cursos de ELD están diseñados para ayudar a los estudiantes a avanzar a lo largo de la secuencia de estándares de ELD. Todas las clases de ELD están diseñadas para ayudar a los estudiantes a obtener dominio sobre los diferentes dominios del idioma: escuchar, hablar, leer y escribir. Las actividades en el salon también están diseñadas para desarrollar las 4 C y desarrollar: pensamiento crítico, colaboración entre estudiantes, comunicación y creatividad. Se requerirá que todos los estudiantes colaboren con sus compañeros y aprovechen las habilidades aprendidas durante el año anterior.
