Advanced Studio Art

The Full year Advanced Studio Art Program is a comprehensive study of the California Visual and Performing Arts standards focusing on the 4 C's of the Common Core. (Collaboration, Communication, Critical Thinking, and Creativity). The program is open to 8th grade artists who have shown a competency in skills and effort during their 7th grade participation in Studio Art and requires approval from the Studio Art Teacher.

Students will study specific skills and media from the Renaissance Period up through the Modern Abstract Art of the 20th century. Advanced drawing, printmaking, multimedia/sculpture, and painting are emphasized. Students are required to keep a comprehensive journal recording each project, concepts taught, and personal reflections. A professional grade acrylic painting on canvas and a gift donated to the school for our permanent collection are highlights of the program.
