Ms Hobbs is an industry professional who is constantly innovating the curriculum to include the latest technologies. We have one of the newest computer labs in the district with the most current in hardware and software technologies. Students will learn how to participate as responsible, safe citizens in a digitally interconnected world. Students will demonstrate a complete understanding of ethics and copyright law as it pertains to their work in a digital environment.
Scope and Sequence
7th/8th Grade Technology (year 1)
This first year course is a foundations level exploratory course to prepare students for advancement to year two. Topics include business software, collegiate research tools and methodology, coding, engineering & electronics, and robotics.
7th/8th Grade Technology (year 2)
In this year two course students expands on the foundations of year 1 technology with a focus on advanced coding. Students will be introduced to engineering principles using Project Lead the Way curriculum.
Graphic Arts & Design
In this course students will learn the principles of graphic arts and design. This is a project based course using industry standard equipment and software. Students will produce the school yearbook and submit projects for local and national competitions. Placement in this course requires teacher approval. 7th grade students are not common but may be eligible based on prior experience and are encouraged to apply.
Prerequisites: Minimum of 3.0 GPA (or equivalent CST scores), Technology year 1 or Digital Photography or equivalent experience required. Requires Application and Technology teacher's approval.
Digital Media/Broadcasting
In this course students will produce the daily news broadcast and other video projects using a fully equipped studio. There are no course pre-requisites but space is limited as the class is offered for only first period. Additionally, as students are representing Crusader Pride and Spirit on campus, students may be ineligible if they have had recent disciplinary actions or low citizenship scores on progress reports.
